The items on this CD were recorded 'live' at the Newport Jazz Festival, Freebody Park, Newport RI. Ella sang accompanied by Don Abney - Piano, Wendell Marshall - Bass and Jo Jones on drums. The concert date was the 4th of July 1957. Billie Holiday was to take the stage two days later on the 6th of July 1957, accompanied by Mal Waldron - piano, Joe Benjamin - bass and once again Jo Jones on drums.
