Description
A Life Well Fished isn't just about fishing... Sure, there are plenty of fishing tales (and 60+ photos!), but it also chronicles a successful life journey (was it mentioned there are 60+ photos?)--generously laced with wit and humor. Both on the water and off, the author has sailed many "Cs": a Chicago childhood; conversations at Crystal Creek; catching carp, catfish, and crappies from the Chain O' Lakes; consuming czarnina (Polish duck blood soup); college and its collage of characters; the Chicago Cubs (curses!); the chagrin of constipation and colonoscopies; and casting captivating Canadian waters in the quest to catch the fish of a lifetime. With those experiences--many highlighting the "fun" in "dysfunction"--tucked in this Baby Boomer's creel, "now" was the time to document them. The author swims boldly (wait, he can't swim at all...) into the minutia of Americana where few writers dare to cast a line: shopping for bacon; hooking himself instead of the trophy musky he's pursuing; and dealing with sweaty arm pits (that was the least of his problems) on a "dream date" gone awry. Oh, and on a grander level, join his humorous troll that seeks to hook the answer to the enigmatic "Meaning of Life" question. Hop aboard (make sure you're wearing a life vest!) and prepare to smile. This lighthearted portrait is sure to catch your imagination!

"A Life Well Fished" was recommended in the Daily Herald by Steve Sarley, the Fishing Columnist. I saw it as a change of pace from all the other non-fiction books I have read. And I love to fish. I wasn't disappointed, in fact, its one of the best books I have read lately. Ed's style of writing was hilarious, and very closely matched my experiences growing up in the Chicago area these past 50 years. I too go to Canada fishing every year, and to read about Ed's fishing exploits with his buddies was like going down memory lane for me. There are to many similarities in our lives I could mention, all were fun to read and remember regarding his and my experiences. If you like to fish, and you live in the Midwest, if you go to Canada fishing, you will like Ed's book. He is a funny guy and his writing is excellent.Rod True
