In the interest of disclosure, let me say that I knew John as a teenager growing up on Long Island. But I had no idea of what his childhood was REALLY like. "You Don't Get To Wear That" is the incredible, true story of a brother and sister, and their lifelong struggle to reconcile with a father who could be described as one part Professor Harold Hill, and two parts Ratso Rizzo. Papa Consoli was a con man who managed to scam a New York mob family, The FBI, The Hell's Angels, and sadly, his own family. And John, his sister, and their mom, were there to witness it all. "You Don't Get To Wear That" will take you through a range of emotions, from sadness and anger, to joy and hope. And it is peppered from front to back with laugh out loud humor. Today, John Consoli is a successful stand up comic, and a former United States Marine Corps Drill Instructor. I enjoyed reading his story very much.
