Having known Barry in college at UCI, I decided I must pick up this book to understand the person that dropped into our lives back in 1987-1989 when I was playing on the UCI tennis team. His brilliant mind and talent as a writer exceeded all my expectations. It was a non stop page turner I could not put down as i hastened to follow his life’s trajectory that intertwined my life during his days at UCI. His recall and vivid memory of the past and shocking detail of the challenges he faced was something I was not expecting from a guy that was not what I expected. He has an amazing talent as a writer and the ability to come back from near death experiences and be here today is just incredible. I highly recommend this book to anyone that wants a page turning, no stop entertaining journey of a young man’s life from the junior tennis courts, challenging upbringing to say the least and overcoming such small odds of making it out alive and to be here today.
